The Eighth Annual Congressional Awards Gala celebrates the achievements of minorities
Spectacular Global Community Oscars will be given to the Chicagoland community and international heroes at the Eighth Annual Congressional Awards Gala. The event will take place at 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 at Meadows Convention Center located at 2950 W. Golf Road in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Hosted by U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis from the Illinois 7th Congressional District, the Congressional Awards Gala is the largest Multi Ethnic Festival in Chicagoland.
U.S. Congressman Davis’s Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force was established in 2010. This powerful organization plays an important role in promoting and protecting minorities. The Annual Congressional Awards Gala is a great way to honor and celebrate the achievements and contributions of multi-ethnic individuals. The Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force makes the voices of minorities heard and celebrates the outstanding achievements that they demonstrate at school, college, their workplace, and through their communities and cultural organizations. The Congressional Awards Gala is a great way to celebrate the unity of Chicagoland residents of different origins while underlining their uniqueness and originality.
Multi-ethnic people historically have played an important role in shaping the foundation of the City of Chicago and the United States of America. The cultural enrichment that this city, this state and this country has received from multi-ethnic individuals is impossible to overestimate. African Americans and Mexicans, Latin Americans and Irish, Germans and French, Greeks and Ukrainians, Russians and Filipinos, Scandinavians and Nigerians, Indians and Vietnamese, Chinese and Koreans, Ghanaians and Sri Lankans, Pakistani and Middle Eastern, Japanese and Bangladeshis – these Chicagoland ethnic communities, as well as others, are represented at the Congressional Awards Gala every year.
More than one thousand persons are expected to attend Gala 2018, which will be telecast live. Together, they will celebrate those who demonstrate excellence in different fields, such as doctors, community activists, business people, writers, students and many others; people, who made a great difference in communities they serve and where they live. The event will also have multiple exhibits that will show the contributions and achievements of persons and organizations representing different multi-cultural communities.
The Congressional Awards Gala is a special event for Congressman Davis. The members of the Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force firmly believe that for Congressman Davis the inclusion and promotion of minorities is not a political compulsion but a matter of deep faith. This Gala is an opportunity for Congressman Davis to show his appreciation and recognition of the achievements of the minorities residing in the Chicagoland area. Over the years, Congressman Davis has distinguished himself as an articulate voice for his constituents. He is a dedicated and tireless legislator who focuses on such issues as job creation, poverty, health care, education, youth and criminal justice reform.
There are more things that unite us than divide us. The Eighth Annual Congressional Awards Gala will be another milestone for those, who in spite of their cultural and national differences find a way to be included into the large Chicagoland family and don’t feel excluded and forgotten. With the help of Honorable Congressman Danny K. Davis and the Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force, people belonging to different minority groups feel appreciated, included, honored and recognized, which motivates them to further achievements. They know – they help to shape the future of this city, this state and this country.
