An inspirational speaker Nick Vujicic is coming to Judson University in Elgin

This is an archive article from 09/12/15

We often complain about our lives without even realizing that we have everything to be happy. We take things for granted – and endlessly want more and more to achieve that ephemeral feeling of happiness. However, there are many people in this world who have much less than we have and often times they are happier than we are. Life has taught them to appreciate the pure fact of their existence and to enjoy every moment of their lives.

One of the most recognizable and influential people in the world, Nick Vujicic, had many reasons to give up because of his severe disabilities. However, instead he found strength to be happy and also to help others overcome their difficulties. This man, who was born without any legs or arms but with a great heart and strong will to live and to be happy, is coming to Judson University in Elgin on Monday, October 12. His lecture called “Nothing But Change, Can Change” will start at 6:45 p.m. with doors open at 5:30 p.m.

This lecture will be part of the 2015 World Leaders Forum Inspirational Series and will become one of the most memorable events held at this university. This annual forum has brought to Judson University such world leaders as George W. Bush, Mikhail S. Gorbachev, Tony Blair and Condoleezza Rice who shared their inspirational ideas with the students and the community. This time, Nick Vujicic will demonstrate to the audience his incredible will to live and to be happy in spite of his disabilities. This unique man knows how to inspire and motivate those who have lost hope and who are ready to give up by sharing his life experience and by teaching how to turn disadvantages into advantages.

Nick Vujicic had moments in his life when he was ready to give up. When he was a child, he had to go through a lot of difficulties with his classmates who laughed at him and didn’t have any sympathy to him. Once he wanted to kill himself, but thoughts about his parents and the pain that they would have had to face because of his death stopped him. Since then, Nick Vujicic realized that a person can have much more than just legs and arms. A person can have an incredible inner strength that often is more important than physical appearance.

Perhaps, if Nick would have been born with legs and arms, just as any other healthy child, he would have never become such a strong and influential person. Probably, he would have lived an average life because nothing would have challenged him to overcome extreme problems. However, his disabilities became a peculiar test for him – he either had to give up or become a very strong person; much stronger than an average one. Extreme difficulties lead to extreme challenges, and Nick Vujicic overcame them.

Now, Nick Vujicic is traveling around the world encouraging people to appreciate their lives and teaching them to be happy in spite of their difficulties. He takes personally every story that audience members share with him and for each person he finds the right words. His heart is so big that during his lectures everyone feels its warmth and leaves the lectures feeling more strong and optimistic. One thing that Nick Vujicic makes everyone realize is that often times people are unhappy not because of the lack of something in their lives; but because of the scarcity of their minds. Once we understand it, we are capable of changing our lives.

Judson University is happy to have the opportunity to introduce this life changing event and invites everyone to attend it. General admission is $50 and priority seating is $100. VIP tickets are also available for $500 and include priority seating, an invitation to the photo session with Nick Vujicic, and an autographed book by Nick.
