“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm,” said Abraham Lincoln. It is important not only to find the right place, but also to make sure that your actions reflect positively on people who surround you, especially if you are a politician. Our state is not in the best shape now and desperately needs help. The positive news is that help is on the way, as an American farmer and politician Darren Bailey is running for the Governor of Illinois in 2022.

I had a great opportunity to attend one of the events that was part of his campaign for Governor. Bailey, who is serving now as an Illinois State Senator, welcomed members of the Republican Party, local citizens and friends who desperately want to restore Illinois and worry about our state’s future. This event took place on February 24 at Skooter’s Roadhouse in Shorewood and I was impressed by the unity of the people who attended it and by their great support of the ideas and plans presented by Darren.

“This is the best country in the world,” said Darren Bailey about the United States. He later added that the Government has to be returned to the People. Our state needs bold and courageous leadership, and this is exactly what Bailey will offer to Illinois and its citizens when he is elected. His goal is to protect the freedoms sacred to all that call the Land of Lincoln home.

Interestingly, Abraham Lincoln said once: “The people - the people - are the rightful masters of both congresses, and courts -- not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it.” These words sound so fresh today; and with Darren Bailey our state will see a bright future, where the Governor will represent a Republican Party, the Party of Abraham Lincoln, and who will serve hardworking Illinois families, not the elites.

“There’s nothing that’s wrong with Illinois that can’t be fixed by some conservative common sense,” believes Darren Bailey, and here are the main points of his campaign and his plan for Illinois.

Darren Bailey will lower both income and property taxes. At the event, he noted that Illinois has a spending problem that has to be solved. He offered to freeze spending without tax increases and underlined that we need honesty in our state. Bailey firmly believes in fiscal responsibility and knows that every penny matters. Raising taxes hurts hardworking Illinois families and is not a solution for a state with one of the highest tax burdens in the entire nation. In the state legislature, Darren has fought against tax hikes and reckless spending and advocated for more business-friendly policies.

Also, Darren believes that we need to reopen the Illinois’ economy and create more jobs. We also have to reopen schools! A complete return to normalcy is a top priority for Darren. This pandemic hit many people in our state very hard, and it’s extremely important for the government to take reasonable measures that don’t hurt people but support them. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Darren led the charge against sweeping executive orders that shuttered Illinois businesses, collapsed the economy, and deprived hardworking Illinoisans of their livelihoods. As Governor, Darren Bailey will work to fully reopen the economy and our schools, attract new business, and fuel job creation in Illinois.

Darren also supports the Second Amendment and advocates for the constitutional right to bear arms. In the Illinois State Senate, Darren voted against sweeping gun control legislation. Darren is an advocate on behalf of gun owners in Illinois and believes that education is crucial for those opposed to gun rights.

Darren Bailey is a man of faith and stands up to protect the rights of the unborn. He believes in the sanctity of life, and as a state legislator voted against the extreme overhaul and expansion of abortion access in Illinois. He also opposes state and taxpayer funding of abortions. Darren will continue to defend innocent life as Governor.

Children are our future, and their education is essential. Darren and his wife of 34 years, Cindy, are the proud parents of four married children and grandparents of ten grandchildren. They also founded a preschool through grade 12 Christian school in southern Illinois. As a person who served for 17 years on the North Clay Unit 25 Board of Education, Darren understands the importance of access to quality education and knows the challenges faced by public schools in Illinois. As Governor, he will advocate for common sense education reforms that put our children first.

As a third-generation farmer who owns and operates his own family farm, Darren understands firsthand the issues facing the farming industry. He serves as the lead Republican on the Agriculture Committee in the Illinois State Senate, and as Governor, he will stand up for his fellow, hardworking farmers.

Darren is also for government transparency and strongly supports and advocates for term limits to prevent career politicians from advancing their own agendas, rather than what is best for Illinois. As Governor, he will ensure safeguards against powerful government overreach.

These statements sound pretty nice and refreshing and give hope that things can actually get better in Illinois. The state should recover and start attracting people to it, not have residents who leave Illinois in droves.

“It’s time to restore confidence in government,” said Darren Bailey at the event in Shorewood, “Illinois citizens have no voice, and it’s time to return it to them.” He also added that our children are now being robbed of their future and prosperity, which has to change.

Certainly, building a movement to bring hope and opportunity to our state is not easy, but as a farmer, Darren Bailey is used to rolling up his sleeves and working until the job is done. The time for change is now. This change will come on November 8, 2022, when Illinois voters will make the right choice.

“The best way to predict your future is to create it,” said Abraham Lincoln. Let’s create a bright future for our beautiful state with Darren Bailey!
